我以地处中欧的匈牙利杰尔市政府的名义，在此祝贺有以下城参加的’2002武汉国际友好城市发展论坛顺利召开。它们是：英国曼彻斯特、美国匹兹堡、法国波尔多、德国杜伊斯堡、日本大分、荷兰阿纳姆、韩国清州、乌克兰基辅、罗马尼亚加拉茨、苏丹喀土穆。
　　由于2002年10月20日将举行地方选举，我市非常遗憾地不能参加此次盛会。对友好城市武汉市举办论坛的创意和努力，我们表示高度赞赏。它将给大批与会友城提供互相协作、学习以及加深现有友谊和发展新关系的机会。

Dear Conference,
Ladies and Gentlemen

On behalf of the local government of Gyor,a town of Hungary in Central Europe I have the honour to greet the 2002 Wuhan International Friendship Cities Development Forum,as well as the representatives of Wuhan’s sister cities,namely:Manchester in the United Kingdom,Pittsburgh in the United States,Bordeaux in Frane,Duisburg in Germany,Oita in Japan,Arnhem in the Netherlands,Cheongju in the Republic of Korea,Kiev in Ukraine,Galati in Romania and Khartoum in Sudan.

Much to our regret my city,Gyor cannot attend this magnificent event because of the local elections taking place on 20th October 2002.We appreciate very much the idea and efforts of our partner city Wuhan to host and organise this meeting to get aquainted with and to learn from each-other and last but not least to create new connections and to deepen already existing friendships.

I wish that the sister Cities’Conference will be a great success and I herewith send my compliments to all of my esteemed colleagues from abroad.
